From a single bespoke pressure vessel to a complex turn-key factory expansion, a detailed design is essential to ensure a smooth project delivery, on time and within budget. Langford Systems Ltd delivers the complete end-to-end solution for welded storage tank customers, from design to installation. We work to the following design codes; Cylindrical (BS EN 14015, BS EN 12285-2, BS EN 1993-4-2, API-620, API-650). Furthermore, Rectangular and Custom Shapes (BS799-5, Finite Element Analysis and In-House calculation spreadsheets).

Procurements Work

We specialize in the strategic sourcing and acquisition of all critical components—from high-grade carbon steel plates and specialized welding consumables to advanced coating systems, heating coils, and safety instrumentation. Through rigorous vendor qualification, technical bid analysis, and stringent quality surveillance, we guarantee that every material and equipment piece not only meets project specifications but also adheres to the highest international standards (such as API 650, ASME, and ISO). Civil and Foundation Works

Our civil and foundation works form the critical, load-bearing base for all our storage oil tank projects, ensuring long-term stability and integrity. The process begins with a comprehensive geotechnical investigation to analyze soil bearing capacity and settlement parameters. Our team then executes precise earthworks, followed by the construction of a robust foundation, typically a reinforced concrete ringwall designed to stringent API 650 standards. This includes meticulous soil compaction, the installation of leak detection systems, and corrosion-protected pipe sleeving. We manage all associated civil works, including paving, drainage, and bund wall construction, to create a complete and secure containment facility. Our rigorous quality control throughout this phase guarantees that the foundation will reliably support the tank's massive static and hydrostatic loads for decades

Fabrication, Erection Testing and Commissioning

The fabrication, erection, testing, and commissioning of our storage oil tanks is a meticulously sequenced operation executed with precision and unwavering attention to quality. It begins with the controlled fabrication of steel plates, including cutting, bevelling, and rolling to exacting tolerances. Our skilled teams then employ the jacking and hoisting method for the tank erection, carefully assembling the bottom, shell courses, and floating roof (if applicable) with strict adherence to weld procedure specifications. Following erection, we conduct rigorous testing, including radiographic and ultrasonic examination of critical welds, and a definitive hydrostatic test to verify the tank's structural integrity and leak-tightness. Finally, the commissioning process brings the tank to life, involving the calibration of instruments, testing of safety systems, and operational checks.
